Valley of the Kings is an Egyptian archaeological locality in the hills west bank of the Nile at Thebes height ( Today Luxor).As such, it is one of the most remarkable archaeological destinations in the world - the burial place of most of the pharaohs of Egypt's New Kingdom.
The tombs of the valley are officially designated by a number KV for the "King's Valley". Tutankhamun's tomb, for example, is also known as KV62.
A number of archaeological excavations continue periodically in the Valley of the Kings today, perhaps best known is al the American University in Cairo KV5 excavation of the tomb of the son of Ramesses II. the Director of the excavation is Professor Kent Weeks, also director of Thebes Mapping Project was officially granted the permit to map the Theban necropolis in its entirety - a project already well underway.

- The tomb of Tutankhamun (KV62)
- The tomb of Tuthmosis III (KV34)
- The tomb of Horemheb (KV57) [- the tomb of the last king of the 18th Dynasty
- The Tomb of Merenptah (KV8) - son of Ramesses II (the Great)
- The tomb of Ramses VI (KV9) - this tomb was originally started by Ramses V, but usurped after his death by his successor Ramses VI.
