Discover Saqqara necropolis, the ancient plateau overlooking the valley of the Nile

Saqqara is the name given to both the village 32 km south of the Egyptian capital Cairo and (especially) the vast necropolis of the ancient plateau overlooking the Nile Valley, the location of tombs and pyramids dating the Predynastic, Old Kingdom, New Kingdom and Late Period of ancient Egyptian history.
The desert plateau overlooking the modern village of Saqqara as a major cemeteries of ancient Egyptian capital of Memphis for thousands of years. As such, it has attracted a large number of royal burials and prestige, the remains of which can be seen in the pyramids and tombs decorated scattered throughout the region. The Saqqara is quite extensive, extending 6 km north-south and 1.5 km at its widest section.

Pyramid of Teti Teti I and Period Cemetery. The pyramid tomb first ruler of the 6th Dynasty pyramid of Teti was quickly surrounded by the graves of his nobles and officials to completion.

Mastaba of Ti: A "classic" of the Old Kingdom tomb of a nobleman and one of the richest sources of information about life during this period, the mastaba of Ti is one of the most grandiose and best decorated funerary architecture in Egypt.
